The harvest volumes are provided in head on gutted (HOG) equivalents.

Feed sales in Q3 2018 were 23,500 tonnes. Bakkafrost’s feed subsidiary, Havsbrún, sourced 7,500 tonnes of raw materials in the quarter.

The full Q3 2018 report will be released on November 6.

Last month Bakkafrost lost approximately 750,000 fish in a mass mortality at its A-81 Kolbanagjógv farm site.

The company said at the time it has not been possible to confirm the cause of the incident, but algae phaeocystis, pseudo-nitzscia and heterosigma were registered in the sea at the site on the day of the mortality and were suspected to have caused the fish deaths.

The company added: “It has also been confirmed that prior to and while the incident occurred, manure has been sprayed as fertiliser on to the infield only 200 metres from the farming site A-81 Kolbanagjógv. Continuous examinations are being done to confirm the cause of the sudden and short mortality incident.”
