During her three-part tour through Europe this week, President Michelle Bachelet will visit the Prime Ministers and Cabinet members of Norway, Finland, and Switzerland, together with private business associations including SalmonChile. According to this Sunday’s La Tercera the visit entails interactive meetings with the principal representatives of business, academic, science and technology sectors of each country. As for Norway the objective is to strengthen and extend the commercial and economic ties already established over the years, such as the existing five year Bilateral Cooperative Agreement that was renewed in 2005. This agreement includes the assistance of Norwegian consultants for Chile’s Southern Highway Project, in the development of roads that will join the country’s salmon regions’ X and XI. The agenda also includes the signing of a new bilateral agreement in conjunction with the United Nations University, to develop an e-learning program for Chilean professionals in the field of environmental policy.
