New chief at Cermaq

Knut Ellekjær, who has considerable experience of the food industry, including processed branded products, has been announced as the new COO of Cermaq Norway.

Although he is new to the fish farming industry he brings a wealth of food sector experience, having been production director of Stabburet, the largest pizza company in Norway, managing director of Sætre, a Nordic biscuit company, and is currently Innovation Director for the Norwegian snacks and confectionary business of Orkla. He is expected to join Cermaq – the second largest salmon producer in the world – by 1st June.

“Knut will add valuable competence to Cermaq. Knut has background from the food industry of branded goods and has also comprehensive management experience as well as international experience. I’m confident that Knut and Cermaq is a good match,” says CEO Geir Molvik.

“I’m very excited about the salmon farming industry. It’s a future oriented way of producing healthy food in a sustainable way, and I am eager to bring my experience to this sector,” says Ellekjær.
