Book on Fouling

- In connection with Aquaculture UK at Aviemore in May, we are proud to present the Book on fouling for the UK/Irish market, says project leader Rolf Mork Knudsen to Fishfarmingxpert.

This is, however, to be expected as the area is getting ever more complex, due to increasing water temperatures and new species.

Knowledge is important for the industry - We think it is good for the industry to not only export fish and equipment, but also export freely available knowledge about a major challenge for the industry internationally, explains Rolf Mork Knudsen, and adds that he is convinced that more knowledge about the different fouling-species as well as insight into the various mechanisms fueling the growth is of paramount importance. Marine fouling is a growing problem and concern, and a time-consuming and costly challenge for the industry. Based on more knowledge, we can all make more well-founded decisions regarding methods, net-strategies and treatment of nets.

Decisions that secure what we alle strive for: Healthy fish with adequate oxygen levels and optimal conditions for growth.

Objective and non-commercial Book on Fouling is intended to be useful for the entire aquaculture industry.

Available versions are: Norwegian, UK/Ireland/ Shetland (from May 2014), Chile (from October 2014). The Book on Fouling is a result of cooperation between Steen-Hansen Aquaculture and various research institutions (primarily in the UK and Norway).
