Marine Harvest Fish Feed (MHFF) is one of the newest divisions within Marine Harvest. Having started manufacturing in June 2014, MHFF has quickly established itself as a competitive supplier of salmon feed playing a key role in supporting Marine Harvest Farming Operations in its delivery of high quality, nutritious, safe and profitable salmon. Currently operating from its new factory in the Trøndelag Region of Norway, MHFF produced in excess of 310,000 tonnes of salmon feed in 2017.
In February 2017, permission to open a second fish feed plant on the Isle of Skye in Scotland was granted. This second plant which will open in late summer 2018 will manufacture a broad portfolio of conventional and organic feeds for both fresh and seawater phases of salmon growth in Scotland, Ireland, Faeroes and in Norway.
The primary focus of the Quality Manager role will be to contribute significantly to the development and success of Marine Harvest Fish Feed by ensuring that a high quality product is produced that consistently meets quality standards and both external and internal standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the laboratory and the management of the companies various feed certification processes and food safety system for the production of fish feed reflecting internal and external requirements, including construction and maintenance of the HACCP plan. It will also be a requirement of the role to liaise with other managers and staff throughout the organisation to ensure that the quality management systems are managed. Where appropriate, you’ll advise on changes and how to implement them and provide training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve quality standards.
Based at Kyleakin, Isle of Skye, you will report primarily to the Technical Manager whilst working closely with the Production and Logistics Managers.
Candidates should be qualified to degree level in food science, animal nutrition or a biological science related subject and be experienced in all aspects of HACCP and food safety management. Experience in salmon feed product development is an advantage, but is not an absolute requirement as the successful candidate will benefit from an extensive training programme.
The post will attract a highly competitive remuneration package which will include a relocation allowance. Full clean driving licence is essential.
